Microsoft Ignite November 2021 – New Power Platform announcements and capabilities

In this article, we will discuss about the new capabilities of Microsoft Power Platform that were recently announced in Microsoft Ignite November 2021 Event.

So, in case you missed this year Ignite Event, we will take you through a new set of capabilities across Power Platform that were announced by Microsoft.

Enhanced Collaboration for users while building apps, flows and Chatbots:

From the beginning Microsoft has laid emphasis on fusion teams while working with Power Platform where pro-developers and citizen developers can work together to increase productivity.

Keeping the same in mind, Microsoft introduced Collaboration with comments (in preview) in the modern app designer where makers can collaborate with teammates, leveraging the skills of their team or those around them while creating apps.

Comments allows you to add notes, feedback or discuss with your teammates directly while building apps, flows, or chatbots. With this new feature team members with different skill set can collaborate with each other and help in building wonderful apps.

Microsoft Power Apps licensing flexibility with pay-as-you-go with Azure Subscription:

Developers can now make use of Pay-as-you-go plan for Power Apps, a more flexible way to pay for Power Apps and Microsoft Power Platform related services.

With this new plan, customers only pay for what they use, making it easier to get started with low code and then scale the investment over time based on the usage.

Process mining to discover inefficiencies within workflows:

Process mining is part of process advisor and still in preview. It identifies inefficiencies within workflows and provide insights across businesses.

Process Advisor consist of two core capabilities: Task mining and Process mining. Task mining captures and analyzes business data while process mining discovers inefficiencies across the organization.

With Process mining organization can upload data from wide variety of sources, gain insights from that data and understand complex business processes across the organization.

From data insights users can quickly identify which activities are most time consuming and streamline workflows to increase productivity.

Microsoft Power BI App in Teams:

Power BI App in Teams is now generally available. Now data is more accessible across organization through Teams. Data can be seamlessly included in chats, calendar invites, meetings, and teams' channels. It is now possible to collaborate based on data-driven insights and make decision faster.

In addition to Power BI in Teams, there are enhanced capabilities with Power BI goals. Power BI goals let users to seamlessly connect to various data sources in Power BI to drive accountability and track progress to increase productivity and reflect outcome. AI Builder add intelligence to your apps that you build. It helps to automate tasks, increase productivity by getting insights from the data. With latest improvement it is easier to incorporate AI into your low code application. The new features include:

  • Bring Your Own Model: Any AI model built in any language, framework or tooling can now be used in Microsoft Power Platform via AI Builder
  • Form processing improvement: The Document Automation Starter Kit makes it easier and faster to train form processing models.
  • More powerful and flexible integration of AI into Power Apps: With Power Fx, makers can now use any AI model on any control in Canvas Apps.
  • Image classification with Lobe: Makers can now train image classification models with Lobe and export those models into AI Builder to be used in Microsoft Power Platform.
  • AI Builder starter capacity: It is now included in select Power Apps and Power Automate License plans.
